About us
Our name is pronounced Om-buds-man, it’s alright if you mispronounce it, everyone does.
Ombudsman are mandated by the Federal Older Americans Act and the Older Californian’s Act, to investigate and resolve complaints regarding care in long-term care facilities. Residents living in long-term care facilities have certain rights that are guaranteed by federal and state regulations. The Ombudsman Program is a confidential program advocating to protect and promote these rights and to empower residents to be self-advocates. Through public education, the Ombudsman Program seeks to promote a better understanding of the long-term care system. In sum, the Ombudsman Program provides information, confidential advocacy, and assistance to resolve concerns regarding the quality of care in long-term care facilities. Our services are free and confidential.
Our staff and volunteers maintain a presence in each of our 66 long-term care facilities throughout our five county area (Lassen, Modoc, Shasta, Siskiyou & Trinity) on a monthly and sometimes weekly basis, ensuring residents and families have confidential Ombudsman access.
